Case Study

Parking Bays by Existing Tree

The situation arose where a parking area was proposed around existing trees. Two trees in particular were too close to the proposed area and at risk from the downward pressures causing compaction. There was also the risk of further root growth in time pushing up the new blockplaving. Rootbridge was supplied in a heel safe mesh finish and left as exposed grids giving the tree natural exposure to water and air.

The Green Grid root protection system was chosen because it is ideal for such situations. The solution has a structure height of only 75mm, which allows easy installation over existing roots. The entire structure is placed on screw foundations that ensure no damage in the root zone while meeting the required load.
