CASE STUDY

Raised Pedestrian Walkway

In the picturesque town of Congleton, UK, a new pedestrian pathway has been successfully completed using the innovative RootBridge panel system. Designed to seamlessly integrate functionality and aesthetics, the pathway features a curved design that gently ramps down from the pavement, ensuring ease of access for all users. The tarmac surface provides a smooth and durable finish, making it ideal for pedestrian traffic. To enhance the pathway’s usability, a handrail—provided and installed by others—was bolted directly to the sides of the RootBridge panels, leveraging the system’s robust structure.

To retain the tarmac surface finish, the RootBridge panels were supplied with pre-welded edging, offering a clean and precise boundary. Given the ramped nature of the pathway, the groundscrews and stubs remain partially visible. At the client’s request, these components were powder-coated in black, blending discreetly with the surroundings and adding a touch of sophistication. This thoughtful customization highlights the adaptability of the RootBridge system to meet specific project requirements. The completed pathway not only protects the underlying tree roots but also provides a safe, accessible, and visually appealing solution for pedestrian movement in this urban setting.
